Tasks of the Division

Participation in the national radiological environmental surveillance programs

• Tasks related to the Joint Environmental Radiation Monitoring System (JERMS) acting within a radius of 30 km of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant:
  • to provide advice on the annual environmental surveillance program of JERMS regarding the sampling and measuring tasks of the health sector
  • to perform radiological measurements of the environmental samples according to the annual sampling program
  • to determine the annual excess dose to the public living within a radius of 30 km of the nuclear power plant
  • to compile the annual report of JERMS
• Tasks associated with the Radiological Monitoring and Data Acquisition Network (RAMDAN):
  • to provide advice on the annual environmental surveillance program of RAMDAN
  • to collect environmental samples and perform radiological examination as the so-called high sophisticated measurements of RAMDAN
  • professional guidance to the RAMDAN laboratories
  • to organise and accomplish intercomparison exercises among the RAMDAN laboratories
  • to evaluate the radiological conditions of the environment and to determine and publish the annual dose to the public
